TECHNOLOGY AT OUR SCHOOL
Our students enjoy an outstanding amount of computer technology at our school. The children use laptops from 3rd grade on, and enjoy lots of computer time from kindergarten through 8th grade. They are exposed to technology all day long. Every teacher has a PC, printer and large screen, multimedia projector on their desk to integrate knowledge from the internet into their curriculum. All teachers have email. Teachers in first through fourth grade use digital whiteboards (known as SMARTBOARDS) to further enhance the learning experience. Teachers make use of educational software on PCs in the classrooms to reinforce the curriculum.
Our computer lab is equipped with state of the art, internet connected Dell computers, numerous printers, scanners, digital cameras and a large screen projector. Students learn Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) along with various other software programs to master all skill areas in the curriculum defined by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Guidelines. An extensive software library of instructional material helps and enriches the curriculum in all grade levels.
Two portable laptop labs with internet are utilized throughout the school on a daily basis. In fourth grade students learn keyboarding on laptops as an alternative to PC keyboarding.
Our library has several PCs for internet research. The nurse's office records health information about our students on up to date medical software. Each office staff member of our school has their own internet connected PC and email.
As our St. Bede graduates come back to visit, they tell us they are well prepared using information technology at whatever high school they attend.
