Council Rock School District

PARENT PHONE CALLS
Our school automated messaging system, known as OneCallNow, sends telephone messages to the home phone of our students.  Phone messages will be sent for school cancellations, delayed openings and snow/early dismissal from school.  These messages are sent as soon as we receive our information from the Council Rock School District.
Please note:  If you would like to receive these messages at additional phone numbers, such as cell phones, visit the Parent Phone Calls section of this website for more information.

SCHOOL CANCELLATION
The TV and radio are another source for notifying students and parents that school will be closed or delayed because of weather conditions.  The radio stations identify school districts by name and/or specific numbers.  The Philadelphia radio stations will identify Council Rock's School District by the following number:
SCHOOL IS CLOSED #756

For school closings and delays go to:
KYW NEWSRADIO 1060
WWW.KYW1060.COM
COUNCIL ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT WEB SITE
WWW.CRSD.ORG
KYW School Closing Hotline at 215-224-1060 (our school number is 756)

THE DELAYED OPENING OF SCHOOL DUE TO
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In some cases, weather conditions are such that the hazardous weather will appreciably improve and with a delay of 1-2 hours, Council Rock School District is able to safely transport our children to school and have the day still be a meaningful educational experience.
Notification of a delayed opening will be communicated in the  same manner as a school closing.  The only difference will that buses will arrive at bus stops 1 or 2 hours later.  In the event that the opening of school is delayed, the radio stations will use a number prefix of "5" in announcing a one hour delay or a "6" when a two hour delay is enacted.
SCHOOL IS DELAYED ONE HOUR  -  #5756
SCHOOL IS DELAYED TWO HOURS -  #6756

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE AM AND PM KINDERGARTEN SCHEDULE IN THE EVENT OF A LATE OPENING?
In the event that school opens one hour late, AM Kindergarten will report one hour late.  PM Kindergarten will report at the usual time.

In the event that school opens two hours late, AM Kindergarten will NOT  report to school on this day.
PM Kindergarten will report at the usual time
.

SNOW/EMERGENCY DISMISSAL
Please DO NOT CALL the school office to ask if there will be an EARLY DISMISSAL due to snow.  Parents who call the school tie up the phone lines and incoming calls from Council Rock School District and the School Bus Companies cannot get through to us with vital information.
If you plan on picking up your children, you DO NOT NEED TO CALL the school office.  Just come into the office and we will  send for your children.
If you plan on sending your children home on the bus, please be sure your child knows where to go if you are not home at the time of their arrival. (For example, next door neighbor's)

From Council Rock Transportation
In the event there will be an early dismissal, the decision is made prior to 11 AM.  Because of the number of students we transport, over our 72 square miles, if we do not make the decision by this early hour we are unable to transport the children in a timely manner.  In the event of early dismissals, we will attempt to dismiss high school students first, junior high schools second, and the elementary schools last.  The reason for this dismissal order is so older students will be at home to care for younger brother and sisters.
